Quality secondhand books bought & sold

INTRODUCTION

Devonport Vintage Bookshop was established in April 2007 but the bookshop, under other names, has been in its present location for over 14 years. It is a character Bookshop being in a 100 year old building (built 1906).

We have over 30,000 quality secondhand books, including about 1,000 rare and collectable books in stock. Our friendly staff will be happy to help you whether you want to buy, or sell books. If we don't have the book you want in store, we may be able to bring it in for you. Just ask our staff. We also buy books in store, and our buyer will even come to your home if you have a lot of books to sell.

Rupert the Ghost

Ever heard a bump in our shop? Has a book fallen off one of our shelves. Don't be alarmed, it's Rupert the Ghost.

A moody English Literature Professor who was killed suddenly when the Complete Works of Proust fell on his head (NB: This unfortunate event did not happen in our shop, it happened at a Marcel Proust Convention).

Rupert loved good books, book lovers and was a regular customer of our shop, therefore he haunts our shop. The staff don't mind and as long as he doesn't have one of his mood swings where books fall off shelves and disappear. Then he can be rather annoying.

A bit of a snob when it comes to literature and great authors, however he has been known to spend most of his time in the children's section on the couch. (Warning to all Kids: If the Kid's couch seems lumpy, it may be Rupert you are sitting on!).  A harmless old ghost he makes life at the bookshop interesting.
